Trendlines
The gaps that decide April, and whether the points are coming at home or on the road.
Two ways in
Finish top three in the Atlantic, or be one of the two best remaining teams in the East. The closer route is the one that matters.
The cut line
Eight Eastern clubs play on. The line under the eighth name is the whole race.
Atlantic
The top three get in even if a Metropolitan club has more points. The line under third place is the automatic berth.
Division leaders
These two are the automatic No. 1 seeds. Everyone else is chasing the other six Eastern berths.
Teams in the division
Points win the race. Regulation wins break the ties. Goal differential is the “are they actually this good?” check.
The gauntlet
Remaining Toronto games. A win is two points. A back-to-back is marked.
Exhibition
Preseason results do not touch the standings. They are here so a Tuesday loss in September does not look like the race.
Rooting interest
Win odds use the same points model as the playoff card. Not a betting line, and not a live in-game number.
Recent results
The stretch that moved the points column.
Tiebreakers
Points first. Then regulation wins. Then regulation-plus-overtime wins. Shootout wins are points, but they do not help the tiebreaker.
The forwards
Current roster. Points are the column that matters.
The blue line
Same idea: points, then the plus-minus, then how many minutes they are actually playing.
The crease
Save percentage first. Goals-against average second. Wins are a team stat wearing a mask.
